Upcoming Roast: April 07

Straight from our reserve stash, we're bringing back this favorite Honduras Cup Of Excellence 2024 winning coffee! This is auction lot #19, Los Tanquez, from producer José Fernández. Cupping through each country's thirty COE samples is a palate-fatiguing exercise, but José's coffee jumped out and stole the show for us. With tremendous tropical fruits, ripe mango & pineapple, a bright acidity and a glossy, shiny quality we treasure, this coffee is a true prize. This is truly the last of it folks!
To preserve freshness, we vacuum sealed and froze the green coffee when it arrived at the roastery last year. This is a highly limited release.

From José:
I am José Fernández, a third-generation coffee producer. I inherited both the land and the passion for coffee from my dad. We worked together on the farm, where I learned how to care for, prune, and harvest specialty coffee. During this time working together, I developed a deep affection for the Bourbon, Catuai, and Pacas varieties—ones that have been cherished by our family since my grandfather's time. Seeing them recognized among the COE winners further strengthens my belief in their quality.
I view the Cup of Excellence (COE) as an opportunity to seek better income for my family, enhancing our quality of life and providing greater opportunities for my children's development. Simultaneously, I aim to demonstrate that my variety, my farm, and I as a producer rank among the best in Honduras.
Looking ahead to the future of my family and farm, I aspire to continue nurturing my coffee crop while maintaining environmentally friendly practices. These include the use of organic fertilizers and pesticides, with the goal of preserving the natural beauty that my farm is privileged to possess. By doing so, I hope to contribute to the well-being of my community by generating additional income during the harvest season. Furthermore, I look forward to establishing relationships with international coffee buyers, ensuring that they too can appreciate the great qualities that my little Pacas has to offer.
